Atlanta delivered another statement performance Wednesday night, defeating the New York Liberty 101-98 in overtime to take a commanding 2-0 lead in their WNBA semifinals series.
The Dream are now just one victory away from advancing to the WNBA Finals, while the defending champion Liberty face elimination.
DREAM WIN A THRILLER
Atlanta and New York traded punches throughout a wild Game 2 before the Dream ultimately prevailed in overtime.
Angel Reese once again made her presence felt when Atlanta needed her most, finishing with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Jordin Canada also delivered a huge performance, posting 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists.
Rhyne Howard added 18 points, while Naz Hillmon finished with 12 points and came through with one of the biggest baskets of the night.
With the game tied late in overtime, Hillmon attacked the basket and converted a go-ahead layup with just 20.8 seconds remaining.
Reese then helped close the door from the free-throw line, knocking down two clutch foul shots with 4.3 seconds remaining to put Atlanta in control.
LIBERTY GET HUGE GAME FROM STEWART — BUT IT’S NOT ENOUGH
New York received a monster performance from Breanna Stewart, who finished with 35 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists.
Marine Fauthoux added 20 points off the bench.
But despite Stewart’s spectacular night, the Liberty couldn’t find a way to stop Atlanta when the game mattered most.
The Dream repeatedly answered New York’s biggest runs and ultimately walked away with the victory.
